Hey there loyal readers (all 4 of you) we're back in Sydney for the day, and are finally getting some pictures put together from the last two weeks -- we've had a great time.
We cheated a bit with our new years post and borrowed some pictures from the Sydney Morning Herald, this is the "real" new year's post. We had a busy but fantastic day -- hanging out with good friends, a little time on the beach, and amazing fireworks (two times even!) that night.
We started off New Year's Eve with breakfast in Tamarama (also known as "glamourama") with local friends and folks in from London. They have a great cafe right on the beach where you can check out the waves and the "locals" if you will. In the midst of our yummy meal, we spotted a familiar face pulling up in a limo -- none other than the world famous Paris Hilton graced us with her presence. She was mostly ignored, and left quickly when not surrounded by tons of paparazzi. We have no idea why she's famous, but she got paid 1 million dollars to hang out in Sydney for a week which is a feat I haven't figured out yet, so she must not be that dumb.
After breakfast, we walked along the coast to Bondi and got some requisite beach time in before heading off to various new years festivities. We had dinner with a bunch of friends at a local pub called The Golden Sheaf, and then headed to a park to watch the 9AM "Family Fireworks" with friends Maria and Paul. Then we went to a party to bring in the new year in style, and saw the 12AM fireworks off the bridge from there.
We managed to get up in time the next morning to get ready for our Melbourne trip and our drive along the great ocean road -- more on that in the next post. For now, click on the picture to see our new year's album.
